Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Dhaka

The Archdiocese of Dhaka (Latin: Archidioecesis Dhakensis ) is an Archdiocese of the Roman Catholic Church in Bangladesh, based in Dhaka.

Forerunner of today's Archdiocese of Dhaka is in 1834 by Pope Gregory XVI. appointed Apostolic Vicariate of Bengal, in 1850 by Pius IX. Apostolic Vicariate of East Bengal was renamed on 1 September 1886 Leo XIII. to the Diocese of East Bengal was charged. In 1887 the name was changed to the Diocese of Dacca. Pius XII. raised the diocese on 15 July 1950 to the archdiocese.

The Archbishop of Dhaka Metropolitan for all of Bangladesh and has his diocese at the same time a suffragan bishop.
