Roman Catholic Archdiocese of La Plata

The Archdiocese of La Plata (lat.: Archidioecesis Platensis, Spanish: Arquidiócesis de La Plata ) is a location in Argentina Roman Catholic archdiocese. Metropolitan is based in La Plata, capital of the province of Buenos Aires.

History

The Diocese of La Plata in 1897 by Pope Leo XIII. established from the Archdiocese of Buenos Aires out; first bishop was Mariano Antonio Espinosa. In 1934, Pius XI through. elevation to the archbishopric; first archbishop was Francisco Alberti.

For parts of its territory of the Archdiocese of La Plata the bishoprics Azul (1934 ), Bahía Blanca ( 1934) were, Mercedes (1934 ), San Nicolás de los Arroyos (1947 ), Lomas de Zamora ( 1957), Mar del Plata ( 1957), Morón (1957 ), San Isidro ( 1957), Avellaneda (1961 ), Quilmes (1976) and Chascomús (1980 ) founded out.

The Archdiocese of La Plata are subject to the suffragan bishopric Azul, Chascomús diocese, diocese of Mar del Plata, bishopric of Nueve de Julio and Diocese of Zárate - Campana.
