Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Lecce

The Archdiocese of Lecce (Latin: Archidioecesis Lyciensis, Italian: Arcidiocesi di Lecce) is located in Italy Roman Catholic archdiocese based in Lecce.

History

The Archdiocese of Lecce Lecce was built in 1057 as diocese and the Archdiocese of Benevento is a suffragan. On May 17, 1518 the diocese of Lecce Alessano the diocese was annexed.

The diocese of Lecce was born on September 28, 1960 by Pope John XXIII. the Holy See assumed with the Apostolic Constitution Cum a nobis directly. On 20 October 1980, the diocese of Lecce was elevated by Pope John Paul II with the Apostolic Constitution Conferentia episcopalis Apuliae to an archbishopric.
