Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Lublin

The Archdiocese of Lublin (Latin: Archidioecesis Lublinensis, poln: Archidiecezja Lubelska ) is located in Poland Roman Catholic archdiocese based in Lublin.

History

The Diocese of Lublin was renamed on 22 September 1805 Pope Pius VII with the Papal Bull Romanorum Pontificum Quemadmodum from the diocese of Chelm and Lublin and goes back to the built already in 1375 the diocese of Chelm; It was a suffragan of the Archdiocese of Warsaw. On March 25, 1992, the Diocese of Lublin was elevated to an archdiocese by Pope John Paul II with the Apostolic Constitution Totus Tuus Poloniae populus. At the same time the archdiocese gave parts of its territory to the founding of the Diocese of Zamość - Lubaczów.
