Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Mbandaka-Bikoro
The Archdiocese of Mbandaka - Bikoro (Latin: Archidioecesis Mbandakana - Bikoroensis ) is a located in the Democratic Republic of the Congo Roman Catholic archdiocese based in Mbandaka.
History
The Archdiocese of Mbandaka - Bikoro was born on February 11, 1924 by Pope Pius XI. cessions of territory from the Apostolic Vicariate of Nouvelle- Anvers built as Apostolic Prefecture Tsuapa. On 28 January 1926, the Apostolic Prefecture Tsuapa was renamed Prefecture Apostolic Coquilhatville. The Apostolic Prefecture Coquilhatville was posted on March 22, 1932 by Pius XI. charged with the Apostolic Constitution Iam Litteris Apostolic Vicariate.
On November 10, 1959, the Apostolic Vicariate Coquilhatville was by Pope John XXIII. charged with the Apostolic Constitution Cum parvulum to an archbishopric. The Archdiocese Coquilhatville announced on September 11, 1961 from parts of its territory to the foundation of the diocese Ikela. On 30 May 1966, the Archdiocese Coquilhatville was renamed Archdiocese of Mbandaka. The Archdiocese was incorporated on 12 April 1975, the diocese Bikoro and renamed the Archdiocese of Mbandaka - Bikoro.
