Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Mexico

The Archdiocese of Mexico (Latin: Archidioecesis mexicanus) is located in Mexico Roman Catholic archdiocese headquartered in Mexico City.

History

The Diocese of Mexico was established on September 2, 1530 by Pope Clement VII with the Papal Bull Sacri Apostolorum ministerio out of territory of the Diocese of Tlaxcala and was a suffragan of the Archdiocese of Seville. On February 12, 1546 Diocese of Mexico was raised to an archbishopric.

The Archbishop of Mexico City is also the Primate of Mexico. The Archdiocese of Mexico is considered a traditionally connected with the cardinal bishopric.

It covers the area of Mexico City.
