Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Seattle

The Archdiocese of Seattle (Latin: Archidioecesis Seattlensis ) is a located in the United States Roman Catholic archdiocese headquartered in Seattle, Washington.

History

The Archdiocese of Seattle was on 31 May 1850 Pope Pius IX. built out of territory of the Diocese of Walla Walla, Washington diocese Nesqually and the Archdiocese of Portland in Oregon is a suffragan. On September 11, 1907, the diocese was renamed the Diocese of Seattle Nesqually. The Diocese of Seattle announced on December 17, 1913 from parts of its territory to the founding of the Diocese of Spokane. A further transfer of territory took place on June 23, 1951 establishing the bishopric of Yakima.

On June 23, 1951, the Diocese of Seattle by Pope Pius XII was. charged with the Apostolic Constitution Dominici gregis to an archbishopric.
