Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Tijuana

The Archdiocese of Tijuana (Latin: Archidioecesis Tigiuanaënsis, Spanish: Arquidiócesis de Tijuana ) is a location in Mexico Roman Catholic archdiocese based in Tijuana.

History

The Archdiocese of Tijuana was posted on January 20, 1874 by Pope Pius IX. out of territory of the Archdiocese of Mexico City built as Apostolic Vicariate of Lower California. On April 13, 1957, the Vicariate Apostolic of Lower California were from parts of its territory establishing the built with the Apostolic Constitution arcana Dei Qui La Paz en la Baja California Sur Apostolic Prefecture. The Apostolic Vicariate of Lower California was renamed on 13 July 1957, the Congregation for the Propagation of the Faith with the decree Cum propter erectionem Apostolic Vicariate in Tijuana.

On 13 July 1963, the Apostolic Vicariate of Tijuana was by Pope Paul VI. with the Apostolic Constitution Apostolic Pro munere to the diocese collected and placed under the Apostolic Constitution Mexicana national the Archdiocese of Hermosillo, suffragan. The Diocese of Tijuana was on March 25, 1966 from parts of its territory to the founding of the Apostolic Constitution Qui secum reputet erected Diocese of Mexicali.

The Diocese of Tijuana was on 25 November 2006, Pope Benedict XVI. charged with the Apostolic Constitution Mexicani populi to the archbishopric. On 26 January 2007, the Archdiocese of Tijuana were parts of its territory from the foundation of the built with the Apostolic Constitution Venerabiles Fratres Diocese of Ensenada.
