Ecclesiastical Province of Toulouse

The Archdiocese of Toulouse, also Archdiocese of Toulouse ( -Saint Bertrand de Comminges - Rieux ) (Latin: Archidioecesis Tolosanus ( - Convenarum - Rivensis ) ) is located in the south of France Archdiocese of the Roman Catholic Church. Seat is Toulouse.

History

Since the 3rd century Toulouse being the bishop. First bishop was Saint Saturnin (250), which lies in the Basilica dedicated to St. Sernin him buried in the episcopal city.

Jules Geraud Cardinal Saliège which board from 1925-1956 the diocese, wrote a much-acclaimed pastoral letter against the persecution of Jews during the Second World War. Current Archbishop since 2006 Robert Le Gall, OSB.

Facilities

The Institut Catholique de Toulouse is located in the Archbishopric. There are also studying the seminarians of the Major Seminary of St. Cyprien, which is responsible for the training of candidates for the priesthood from the 16 dioceses of the region.
