Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Trivandrum
The Archdiocese of Trivandrum (Latin: Archidioecesis Trivandrensis Latinorum ) is a located in India Roman Catholic archdiocese based in Thiruvananthapuram ( Trivandrum).
History
The Archdiocese of Trivandrum was founded on July 1, 1937 by Pope Pius XI. In ora Malabarica of annexations of the diocese of Quilon built with the Apostolic Constitution when bishopric of Trivandrum and the Archdiocese Verapoly a suffragan. The diocese of Trivandrum was on 14 June 1996 parts of its territory from the foundation of the Diocese of Neyyattinkara. On 3 June 2004 the diocese of Trivandrum was raised to an archdiocese by Pope John Paul II with the Apostolic Constitution Sacratissimi Cordis Jesus.
Territory
The Archdiocese of Trivandrum includes the Thiruvananthapuram District in the state of Kerala and the Kanyakumari district in Tamil Nadu.
