Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Valencia

The Archdiocese of Valencia (Latin: Archidioecesis Valentinus, kat. Arxidiòcesi de Valencia, Spanish: Archidiócesis de Valencia ) is a location in Spain Archdiocese of the Roman Catholic church located in Valencia.

History

The Archdiocese of Valencia was first founded in 527 as the Diocese of Valencia, but went in the 8th century during the Moorish rule on the Iberian peninsula. In the course of the Reconquista and the expulsion of the Moors from Valencia it was built as a diocese Valencia again on 10 October 1238. First, it was under a suffragan to the Archdiocese of Tarragona. On July 9, 1492, Pope Innocent VIII the bishopric to an archbishopric with the seat of a metropolitan.
