Roman Catholic Diocese of Albany
The Diocese of Albany (Latin Dioecesis Albanensis in America ) is a diocese of the Roman Catholic Church in the USA, based in Albany, the state capital of New York.
History
The diocese was taken out of the Diocese of New York on April 23, 1847, and is subject to this today as suffragan. On February 15, 1872, the Diocese of Ogdensburg by Pope Pius IX. erected and separated from the Diocese of Albany, on 26 November 1886, the Diocese of Syracuse was built and also taken out of the territory of the diocese.
Cathedral
Episcopal Church of the Immaculate Conception Cathedral ( Immaculate Conception). It was completed in 1852.
