Roman Catholic Diocese of Alexandria in Louisiana

The diocese of Alexandria (Latin: Dioecesis Alexandrina ) in the U.S. state of Louisiana was taken on July 29, 1853 as the Diocese of Natchitoches from the Archdiocese of New Orleans, where it is subject to this day as suffragan. On 6 August 1910, changed its name to Alexandria in 1976 to Alexandria - Shreveport and from June 16, 1986 back to Alexandria after Shreveport was separated as an independent diocese.

The area of the diocese extends over the Avoyelles Parishes, Caldwell, Catahoula, Concordia, Franklin, Grant, La Salle, Madison, Natchitoches, Rapides, Tensas, Vernon, and Winn.
