Roman Catholic Diocese of Altoona-Johnstown

Located in the USA Diocese of Altoona - Johnstown (Latin: Dioecesis Altunensis - Johnstoniensis ) was established on May 30, 1901 from areas of the dioceses Pittsburgh and Harrisburg diocese as Altoona, is a suffragan of the ecclesiastical province of Philadelphia.

1950, 135 377 Catholics scoring ( 21.9% of total population) in 111 parishes with 132 diocesan priests, 99 religious priests and 73 nuns, the diocese changed on October 9, 1957 its name from the present form. By 2002, the 17,279 km ² large diocese comprised 112 426 Catholics ( 17.4% ) in 100 parishes with 143 diocesan priests, 62 religious priests, 29 deacons and 87 religious sisters.

It now covers the areas of Bedford, Blair, Cambria, Centre, Clinton, Fulton, Huntingdon and Somerset Counties.
