Roman Catholic Diocese of Atambua

The diocese Atambua (Latin: Dioecesis Atambuensis ) is a location in Indonesia Roman Catholic diocese based in Atambua.

History

Pope Pius XI. founded the Apostolic Vicariate of Dutch Timor with the Gospel of Christ Apostolic Constitution Ad on 25 May 1936 annexations of the Apostolic Vicariate Lesser Sunda Islands. On November 11, 1948, took the name, Apostolic Vicariate Atambua on.

On January 3, 1961, was raised to the bishopric and archbishopric subject to end as suffragan. A part of its territory lost it on April 13, 1967 in favor of the establishment of the Diocese of Kupang. On 23 October 1989, became part of the new ecclesiastical province of the Archdiocese of Kupang.
