Roman Catholic Diocese of Bathurst (Canada)

The Diocese of Bathurst (Latin: Dioecesis Bathurstensis in Canada) is a location in Canada Roman Catholic diocese based in Bathurst.

History

The Diocese of Bathurst was on May 8, 1860, Pope Pius IX. built out of territory of the Diocese of Saint John in America Diocese of Chatham and the Archdiocese of Halifax is a suffragan. The diocese of Chatham announced on February 22, 1936 parts of its territory to the creation of the Archdiocese of Moncton, which it was a suffragan, from. On March 13, 1938, the diocese was renamed the Diocese of Bathurst Chatham. The Diocese of Bathurst was on December 16, 1944 from parts of its territory to the founding of the Diocese of Edmundston.
