Roman Catholic Diocese of Belgaum

The Diocese of Belgaum (Latin: Dioecesis Belgaumensis ) is a located in India Roman Catholic diocese based in Belgaum.

History

The Diocese of Belgaum was posted on September 19, 1953 by Pope Pius XII. built out of territory of the Archdiocese of Goa and Daman and the Archdiocese of Bangalore is a suffragan. On January 24, 1976, the Diocese of Belgaum were parts of its territory from the foundation of the Diocese of Karwar. A further transfer of territory took place on 24 June 2005 The diocese of Gulbarga.

Territory

The diocese comprises the districts of Belgaum Belgaum, Bijapur, Bagalkot, Dharwad, Gadag and Haveri in Karnataka, as well as the Tehsil Chandgad in the state of Maharashtra.
