Roman Catholic Diocese of Canarias

The Diocese of Canary Islands (lat.: Dioecesis Canariensis ) is a location in Spain Roman Catholic diocese based in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.

History

Already in 1351 the diocese was founded Telde from the diocese of Mallorca and went out in 1404 in the diocese of Rubicon on. The Diocese of Canary Islands was established on July 7, 1406 by Pope Innocent VII, based in Rubicon. It was the archbishopric of Seville is a suffragan. 1483 the bishop's seat was moved to Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.

On February 1, 1819 Diocese Canary Islands were from parts of its territory to the founding of the Diocese of San Cristóbal de La Laguna Tenerife o and now includes only the islands of Lanzarote, Fuerteventura and Gran Canaria.
