Roman Catholic Diocese of Carolina

The diocese Carolina (Latin: Dioecesis carolinensis in Brasilia ) is a located in Brazil Roman Catholic diocese based in Carolina in the state of Maranhão.

History

The Diocese of Carolina was on 14 January 1958 under Pope Pius XII. with the Apostolic Constitution Qui aeque built as Territorialprälatur Carolina from annexations of Territorialprälatur São José do Grajaú. The Territorialprälatur Carolina was the Archdiocese of São Luís do Maranhão assumed as suffragan.

On October 16, 1979, the Territorialprälatur Carolina by Pope John Paul II with the Apostolic Constitution Cum praelaturae was raised to the bishopric. On 27 June 1987, the Diocese of Carolina were parts of its territory from the foundation of the diocese Imperatriz.
