The diocese of Chartres (Latin: Dioecesis Carnutensis ) is a located in France Roman Catholic diocese based in Chartres.

History

The diocese of Chartres was built in the 3rd century and the Archdiocese of Sens is a suffragan. On 20 October 1622, the diocese of Chartres was the archbishopric of Paris, is a suffragan. The diocese of Chartres was on June 25, 1697 from parts of its territory to the founding of the Diocese of Blois. On 29 November 1801, the diocese of Chartres was dissolved and the area was incorporated into the diocese of Versailles. The diocese of Chartres was built on October 6, 1822 by Pope Pius VII, with the Apostolic Constitution Paternae charitatis again. On 16 December 2002 the diocese of Chartres was the Archdiocese of Tours is a suffragan.
