Roman Catholic Diocese of Lodi

The diocese of Lodi (Latin: Dioecesis Laudensis ) is a located in Italy Archdiocese of the Roman Catholic church located in Lodi.

It covers the area of Lodi political province and parts of the provinces of Pavia, Milan and Cremona.

Even under the Roman name Laus Pompeia was the city since the 4th century seat of a bishop, but the early days of the diocese is to the 9th century completely in the dark.

The Cathedral of Lodi is still partially preserved in Romanesque forms. Next to it is the old Bishop's Palace.

Pope Benedict XVI. appointed on 14 November 2005 the former auxiliary bishop of Milan, Giuseppe Merisi, Bishop of Lodi and thus the successor of Giacomo Capuzzi, whose resignation Wanted adopted for reasons of age, the Pope on the same day.
