Roman Catholic Diocese of Moundou

The diocese Moundou (Latin: Dioecesis Munduensis ) is a Roman Catholic diocese in Chad. It is a suffragan of the Archdiocese of N'Djamena.

History

On May 17, 1951, the Apostolic Prefecture Moundou was built from annexations of the Apostolic Prefectures Fort -Lamy, and Garoua. On February 19, 1959, the Apostolic Prefecture was raised to the bishopric. March 1989 the diocese lost a part of its territory, as the diocese of Doba was built. The next area loss was November 1998 when the two bishoprics Goré and Lai were built.

She has (as of 2004) an area of ​​8692 km ², 12 parishes in four deaneries, 25 priests (17 native secular priests, 3 Fidei Donum priests and five religious), 1 monk, 64 sisters, 14 major seminarians and 24 minor seminarians and about 1,000 catechists.
