Roman Catholic Diocese of Northampton

The Diocese of Northampton (Latin: Dioecesis Northantoniensis ) is a facility located in the United Kingdom, Roman Catholic diocese based in Northampton.

History

The Diocese of Northampton in 1840 by Pope Gregory XVI. cessions of territory from the Apostolic Vicariate Midland District established as Apostolic Vicariate of Eastern District. On September 29, 1850, Apostolic Vicariate of Eastern District was by Pope Pius IX. raised to the bishopric and renamed diocese Northampton - with the Apostolic Constitution Universalis Ecclesiae - restoration of the Catholic hierarchy in England. It was the Archdiocese of Westminster is a suffragan. The Diocese of Northampton was on March 13, 1976 from parts of its territory to the founding of the Diocese of East Anglia.
