Roman Catholic Diocese of Orihuela-Alicante

The Diocese of Orihuela -Alicante (Latin: Dioecesis Oriolensis - Lucentinus, Spanish: diócesis de Orihuela- Alicante) is a Roman Catholic diocese in Spain, based in Orihuela. It belongs with the dioceses of Ibiza, Mallorca, Menorca and Segorbe - Castellón de la Plana to the church province of Valencia.

Been appointed a new Bishop on 26 November 2005 by Pope Benedict XVI. Rafael Palmero, who had previously been Bishop of Palencia. Its predecessor was Victorio Oliver Domingo, whose resignation had been accepted for reasons of age, the Pope on the same day.
