Roman Catholic Diocese of Oudtshoorn

The Diocese of Oudtshoorn (Latin: Dioecesis Oudtshoornensis ) is a location in South Africa, Roman Catholic diocese headquartered in Oudtshoorn.

History

Pope Pius IX. founded the Apostolic Prefecture of Cape of Good Hope, Central District on August 3, 1874 annexations of the Apostolic Vicariate of Cape of Good Hope, Western District. On July 20, 1885, lost part of its territory to the Prefecture Apostolic of Orange River. On April 9, 1934, the island of St. Helena was associated with the Apostolic Constitution Quo spirituali the Apostolic Vicariate of Cape of Good Hope, Western District. On 13 June 1939, the Apostolic Prefecture of Cape of Good Hope, Central District took the name Oudtshoorn Apostolic Prefecture.

Pius XII. it brought on 9 December 1948 with the Apostolic Constitution Ad altiorem dignitatis Apostolic Vicariate. The survey was carried out to the diocese on 11 January 1951 with the Apostolic Constitution Suprema Nobis.
