Roman Catholic Diocese of Pamiers

The diocese of Pamiers (Latin: Dioecesis Apamiensis ) is a location in France Roman Catholic diocese based in Pamiers.

History

The diocese of Pamiers was established on September 16, 1295 by Pope Boniface VIII, with the Apostolic Constitution Romanus Pontifex of cessions of territory of the archbishopric of Toulouse and this is a suffragan. On July 11, 1317 the Diocese of Pamiers were parts of its territory from establishing the bishoprics of Mirepoix and Rieux. The diocese of Pamiers was disbanded on 29 November 1801 and the area was annexed to the archbishopric of Toulouse. On October 6, 1822 Diocese of Pamiers was built again by Pope Pius VII, with the Apostolic Constitution Paternae charitatis. It has since also includes most of the former diocese couserans with its episcopal see of Saint- Lizier.
