Roman Catholic Diocese of Pinheiro

The Diocese of Pinheiro (Latin: Dioecesis Pinerensis ) is a location in Brazil Roman Catholic diocese based in Pinheiro in Maranhao.

History

The diocese Pinheiro was on July 22, 1939 by Pope Pius XII. built with the Apostolic Constitution Ad maius christifidelium out of territory of the Archdiocese of São Luís do Maranhão and Territorialprälatur São José do Grajaú as Territorialprälatur Pinheiro. The Territorialprälatur Pinheiro was the Archdiocese of São Luís do Maranhão assumed as suffragan. The Territorialprälatur Pinheiro, on 16 October 1961 from parts of its territory establishing the Cândido Mendes Territorialprälatur.

On October 16, 1979, the Territorialprälatur Pinheiro by Pope John Paul II with the Apostolic Constitution Cum praelaturae was raised to the bishopric.
