Roman Catholic Diocese of Pyay

The Diocese of Pyay (Latin: Dioecesis Pyayensis ) is a location in Myanmar Roman Catholic diocese based in Pyay.

History

Pope Pius XII. founded the Apostolic Prefecture Akyab on 9 July 1940 cession of territory of the Diocese of Chittagong. On September 19, 1957, she took the name Prome Apostolic Prefecture.

With the Apostolic Constitution Cum in iis it was raised on February 21, 1961 in the rank of diocese, which was the Archdiocese of Rangoon, is a suffragan. On 8 October 1991, the diocese took its present name.
