History

The Diocese of Rockford was on 27 September 1908 Pope Pius X with the apostolic constitution Quae rei sacrae built out of territory of the Archdiocese of Chicago and this is a suffragan. On 11 December 1948, the Diocese of Rockford were parts of its territory to the founding of the Diocese of Joliet in Illinois from.
