Roman Catholic Diocese of Salina

The Diocese of Salina (Latin: Dioecesis Salinensis ) is a location in Kansas in the United States Roman Catholic diocese based in Salina.

History

Pope Leo XIII. founded the bishopric Concordia on 2 August 1887 cession of territory of the Diocese of Leavenworth and the Archdiocese of San Antonio was assumed as suffragan.

On 1 July 1897, the five counties of Washington, Clay, Riley, Geary and Dickinson of the diocese Leavensworth were incorporated. On 23 December 1944, adopted the current name.

The Diocese of Salina includes the counties of Cheyenne, Sherman, Wallace, Logan, Thomas, Rawlins, Decatur, Sheridan, Gove, Trego, Graham, Norton, Phillips, Rooks, Ellis, Russell, Osborne, Smith, Jewel, Mitchell, Lincoln, Saline, Ottawa, Cloud, Republic, Washington, Clay, Dickinson, Geary, Riley and Marshall of the State of Kansas. In Concordia is the former Cathedral of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church.
