Roman Catholic Diocese of San Juan de Calama

The Diocese of San Juan Bautista de Calama (Latin: Sancti Ioannis Dioecesis Calamensis ) is a located in Chile Roman Catholic diocese based in Calama.

History

The Diocese of San Juan Bautista de Calama was formed on July 21, 1965 from areas of Antofagasta and Iquique dioceses as Territorialprälatur Calama. On June 28, 1967, the Territorialprälatur has changed from the Archdiocese of La Serena to the archbishopric of Antofagasta as Metropolitan Archdiocese.

The Territorialprälatur Calama was 20 February 2010 by Pope Benedict XVI. raised to the bishopric and renamed Diocese of San Juan Bautista de Calama.
