Roman Catholic Diocese of Sion

The diocese of Sion (Latin Dioecesis Sedunensis ) is a diocese of the Roman Catholic Church in Switzerland and comprises the largest part of the Canton of Valais (without the Territorial Abbey of Saint- Maurice) addition of the Vaud district Aigle.

In the 15th and 16th centuries was the Uff Schloss der Flue, eponymous also on the Flue in Naters once the residence of the bishop and as a residence. Seat of the bishop and the cathedral chapter today the Cathedral of Our Lady ( Notre- Dame de Sion or you Glarier ) in customs. Head of the traditional Diocese of importance for the history of the canton of Valais is Bishop Norbert Brunner.
