Roman Catholic Diocese of Sobral

The Diocese of Sobral (Latin: Dioecesis Sobralensis ) is a located in Brazil Roman Catholic diocese based in Sobral in the state of Ceará.

History

Pope Benedict XV. founded it on November 10, 1915 from cessions of territory of the Archdiocese of Fortaleza, where it was assumed as a suffragan.

On September 23, 1963, lost part of its territory to the diocese Crateús and on March 13, 1971 another part of the bishoprics Itapipoca and Tianguá.
