Roman Catholic Diocese of Tucson

The Diocese of Tucson (Latin: Dioecesis Tucsonensis ) is a located in the United States Roman Catholic diocese based in Tucson, Arizona. It includes nine counties of the State: Gila, Graham, Greenlee, Pinal, Cochise, Santa Cruz, Pima, Yuma, and La Paz

History

In 1868 was established from areas of the diocese of Santa Fe, the Apostolic Vicariate of Arizona. 1891 lost the Apostolic Vicariate of parts of its territory to the established in the previous year Diocese of Dallas. On 8 May 1897, the survey was conducted to the diocese. The Apostolic Vicariate of Arizona called henceforth the Diocese of Tucson.

On 3 March 1914, the dioceses of Dallas, San Antonio and Tucson area came from parts of that make up the Diocese of El Paso was built. Further losses of territory on 16 December 1939, the Diocese of Gallup, and on 28 June 1969, the Diocese of Phoenix.
