Roman Catholic Diocese of Valence
The Diocese of Valence (Latin: Dioecesis Valentinensis ) is a Roman Catholic diocese in France, based in Valence, which has existed since the 4th century.
History
- 2nd half of the 4th century: creation of a bishopric in Valence
- 450: suffragan of Vienne
- 1275: union with the diocese, the
- 1678: Another spin-off of the diocese, the
- 1801: Extension of the diocese to diocese of the dissolved Saint -Paul -Trois- Châteaux and Archdiocese Vienne. Metropolitan diocese is Lyon.
- 1822: Amendment to the Metropolitan diocese to Avignon.
- 1911: Name changed to Diocese of Valence ( - The - Saint -Paul -Trois -Châteaux ).
- 2002: Amendment to the Metropolitan diocese of Lyon.
