Roman Catholicism in Tajikistan

The Roman Catholic mission sui juris Tajikistan (Latin Missio sui iuris Tadzikistanianus ) was established on 29 September 1997 by Pope John Paul II and released from the administrative territory of the Apostolic Administration of Kazakhstan. From 1997 to 1999 the number of Catholics in Tajikistan has risen from 180 to 245.

Communities

The mission area covers the whole of Tajikistan. There are three communities.

  • Parish of St. Joseph ( headquarters in Dushanbe Tajikistan in the west )
  • Parish of St. Roch ( based in the south of Tajikistan Qurghonteppa )
  • Community of St. Therese of Lisieux ( based in Khujand in northern Tajikistan )
