Roman Kosecki

Roman Kosecki (* February 15, 1966 in Piaseczno ) is a former Polish footballer and since 2005 member of the Polish Sejm.

The attacking midfielder joined the Roman Kosecki first steps as a young football player from 1980 to 1983 at RKS Mirków and then moved to Warsaw Ursus, where he played until 1986 and was discovered. The next stops were Gwardia Warsaw and Legia Warszawa. With Legia he was in 1989 and 1990, twice Polish Cup winner and then sold abroad. First, it took the Turkish top club Galatasaray, where he stood in 1991/92 a season under contract. Then it led the way in the Spanish league, where he initially one year for CA Osasuna, then played from 1993 to 1995 for Atlético Madrid. In 1995, he came to France, where he played one season for FC Nantes and then a season for Montpellier HSC. In 1997 he came back briefly to Legia Warsaw to let then run out his career with the U.S. team Chicago Fire SC. In 1998, he won with the Chicago American Cup and the championship.

Roman Kosecki brought it to the Polish national team on 69 missions. In 1988 he made ​​his debut against Romania when he was still playing for Gwardia Warsaw in the second division. His last international game he played in 1995 and had a total of 14 times captain of the national team.

The fans of Legia Warsaw saw him as the legitimate successor of the great Kazimierz Deyna on the position of the center field director. Deyna was in the same year, when Kosecki began his career at Legia, died in a car accident. Kosecki was in Poland for many years as one of the most popular football players. His son Jakub is also a professional football player and plays for Legia Warsaw. As early as 1989 he became involved before the first free elections in Poland politically by the public voted for the election of the Community Solidarity. Even after the termination of his sporting career Kosecki is still active in politics and was elected in 2005 for the Civic Platform in the Polish Sejm. He stood as a candidate at the Warsaw list of the platform and received 4395 votes directly. In the early parliamentary elections in 2007, he ran again on the Warsaw list and received 6847 votes directly, so it will work in the new Sejm as a deputy for the Civic Platform.
