Roman Vlasov

Roman Andreyevich Vlasov (Russian Роман Андреевич Власов; born October 6, 1990) is a Russian wrestler. He was 2011 World Champion and 2012 Olympic champion in Greco-Roman wrestling in the welterweight division.

Career

Roman Vlasov comes from Siberia. He started in 2000 at the age of 10 years with the rings, while specializing in the Greco- Roman style. In 2002 Viktor Mikhailovich Kuznetsov was his coach, who still manages it today. He is now one of the sports club Alexander Karelin at Novosibirsk. He is a student and member of the military, where he also has its economic base.

Already in the junior age he was very successful. So it was established in 2006 in Istanbul European junior champions of the cadets in the weight class up to 46 kg, and repeated this success in 2007 in Warsaw in the weight class up to 54 kg body weight. 2008 and 2009, he failed to qualify for any of the international junior championships. In 2010 he was in Budapest but junior welterweight champion.

In 2011 came his breakthrough. After taking in the Russian national team wrestler, he was particularly encouraged by head coach Gogi Koguaschwili. He convinced then right at the prestigious international tournament " Ivan Poddubny " in Tyumen, where he won welterweight before Warteres Warteressowitsch Samurgaschew, Emil Scharafedtinow, Ildar Bataschow and Alexander Tschechirkin and left with these wrestlers the cream of Russian welterweight behind. He was then also Russian welterweight champion before Emil Scharafedtinow, Alexander and Ilya Tschechirkin Magomadov.

At the European Championship 2011 in Dortmund, he triumphed over Fabian Jaenicke, Germany, Nikolai Daragan, Ukraine and Ilian Gerogiew, Bulgaria, but lost in the semi-final against Peter Bacsi from Hungary. In the battle for the bronze medal defeating then arsenic Julfalakjan from Armenia 2-1 rounds (0-2, 1-0, 1-0 points).

At the peak of the Ringer year, the 2011 World Championships in Istanbul, he took up in even better shape and defeated there Vojtech Jakus, Slovakia, Robert Rosengren, Sweden, Farshad Alizadeh Kalehkeshi, Iran, Neven Zugaj, Croatia and in the final Selcuk Cebi from Turkey ( 2: 0 Rounds, 1-0, 1-0 points) and was thus at first world champion at the elite wrestlers.

He was honored in person on 22 November 2011 by President Dmitry Medvedev at the Kremlin together with other successful athletes for this success.

August 5, 2012 Roman Vlasov celebrated another great success. He was at the Olympic Games in London with wins over Mark Overgaard Madsen, Denmark, Christophe Guenot, France, Aleksandr Kazakevič, Lithuania and arsenic Dschulfalakjan, Armenia in superior style Olympic champion.

2013 Roman Vlasov in Tbilisi was once again in superior style European champions. He defeated on the way to this success Arturas SEKUS, Lithuania, Piotr Prepiorka, Poland, Jawor Jana Kiev, Bulgaria, Alexander Dschemanovich, Belarus and Surabi Datunaschwili, Georgia. In the Russian championship in 2013, he was not at the start. But he started in July 2013 at the Universiade in Kazan and won there before Hadi Alizadeh Pournia, Iran, Asren Dschulfalakjan and Dimitri Pyschkow, Ukraine. At the World Championships this year in Budapest, he was after beating Alvis Albino Almendra Jimenez, Panama, arsenic Dschulfalakjan, Esengeldi Koschubek Uulu, Kyrgyzstan and Mark Overgaard Madsen, Denmark in the final battle. In this he stood against the Olympic champion of 2012 Lightweight Kim Hyeon -woo of South Korea. He lost that fight just by points (0-2 rounds, 1:2 points) and was thus "only" vice-champion. Only after the fight it was announced that Roman Vlasov has gone slightly weakened flu in this fight.

In January 2014, Roman Vlasov lost at the famous " Ivan Poddubny " Memorial in Tyumen in the new weight class up to 75 kg after a long time against a Russian wrestler. Alexander Tschechirkin defeated him there on points.
