Roman Wilhelmi

Roman Wilhelmi ( born July 6, 1936 in Poznań, Poland, † November 3, 1991 in Warsaw, Poland) was a Polish actor.

Life

Roman Wilhelmi received his training as an actor in the late 1950s at the State Drama School PWST in Warsaw. In 1958 he was the spectacle exam and received by director Aleksander Bardini 1959 at the Teatr Ateneum in Warsaw with the role of Stanley in A Streetcar Named Desire by Tennessee Williams his first starring role. Roman Wilhelmi was not only due to this first major role, but mainly because of his acting style and his physical resemblance to the American film star than the Polish Marlon Brando. He received first minor film roles by directors such as Andrzej Munk and Aleksander Ford Statewide popularity he received for his starring role in the popular Polish television series of the 1960s, four armored soldiers and a dog. For his role of a broadcast journalist in Tomasz Zygadłos CMA 1981 he received the Best Actor Award at the International Film Festival Moscow. In addition to his film work, Wilhelmi was especially charismatic stage actor, who belonged to the ensemble of the Teatr Ateneum in Warsaw for several decades. In 1991, he died of cancer.
