Romanian general election, 1990

The presidential elections in Romania in 1990 were held on 20 May 1990. Together with the simultaneous parliamentary elections were the first democratic elections in Romania after the revolution. Ion Iliescu of the " National Salvation Front" (FSN ) reached already in the first ballot a clear absolute majority of votes, so a runoff was necessary.
