Romeo Benetti

Romeo Benetti ( born October 20, 1945 in Albaredo d' Adige ( VR), Italy ) is a retired Italian footballer.

Career

The central midfielder Benetti came in 1968 in the Serie A to Juventus, but could not at first take root and changed for a season to Sampdoria, and then to create in the 1970/71 season at AC Milan breakthrough in Juve. On September 25, 1971 he gave his debut in the Italian national team, where he became a regular player. In 1973, he won the European Cup with Milan Cup Winners' Cup. A year later he was part of the Italian squad at the World Cup 1974 in Germany.

In 1976, Juventus, a replacement for Fabio Capello and found him in Romeo Benetti. With Juventus Benetti in 1977 and 1978 Italian champions twice, at the soccer World Cup in Argentina in 1978, he was with Italy fourth. In 1979 he moved to wind down his career at AS Roma. For the national team, he played 55 international matches.
