Romeo Zondervan

Romeo Zondervan ( born March 4, 1959 in Suriname ) is a former Dutch football player with roots in Suriname.

Career

The midfielder began his career as the son of immigrants from the former Dutch colony in 1977 ADO Den Haag. In 1978, he went after only one year in the seat of government for FC Twente Enschede. He remained four years in Enschede and went from there to England. In 1982, he signed a contract with West Bromwich Albion and two years later he came to Ipswich Town. In ten years, England, the Dutchman came to a total of 358 appearances in the English leagues. In 1992 he returned to the Netherlands and moved to NAC Breda. Zondervan finished his career in 1995. He could not win a single title.

Internationally, he played six times for the Dutch selection. He participated in the European Football Championship in 1980 partly in Italy, where the Netherlands was eliminated in the first round as a group of third parties.
