Romola Garai
Romola Garai Sadie ( born August 6, 1982 in Hong Kong, British Crown Colony ) is a British actress.
Life and achievements
Romola Garai, which Jewish and Hungarian ancestors, grew up in Singapore and Hong Kong, among others. Originally discovered as a singer and musician, she began her film career in 2000 with the TV movie The legendary Blonde Bombshells. In the award-winning drama she acted alongside such well-known actresses like Judi Dench, Leslie Caron and Olympia Dukakis. Soon to follow more roles like in cinema productions on both sides of the Atlantic, including historical films such as Nicholas Nickleby (2002) but also contemporary dramas such as Inside I'm Dancing (2004) in which she the object of desire of a spastic paralyzed young people (played by Steven Robertson) mimes. The part of Siobhan brought her the 2005 prize of the London Film Critics Circle for Best Supporting Actress of the year. A large U.S. audience it was founded in 2004 by the female lead role opposite Diego Luna in the dance movie Dirty Dancing 2: Havana Nights known loosely inspired by the story of the world success Dirty Dancing (1987). In 2007, she played the role of the adult Briony in Atonement with James McAvoy and Keira Knightley. For the title role in the television miniseries Emma (2009 ), an adaptation of the novel by Jane Austen, she received a 2011 Golden Globe nomination for Best Actress in a Mini- Series or TV Movie made for TV.
