Geography
Geographical Location
Through the town Antrift and Ocherbach flows in the south are the foothills of the Vogelsberg.
Neighboring communities
Romrod bordered to the north by the town of Alsfeld, in the east on the community Schwalmtal, in the south on the community Feldatal, and in the west on the community and the city Gemünden Kirtorf.

History
The place Rumerode emerged at the intersection of two old streets Diotweg and the military road (later Diebsweg, Volksweg means ) by the Short Hesse. The first castle was built in the 11th century in Antrifttal. Thus may already existed a settlement because Talburgen were often built on already inhabited places.
In the first half of the 12th century, the old water tower was built. Coat of arms
On June 23, 1967, the city Romrod in the former district of Alsfeld was approved to change the current coat of arms. Meaning: The golden coat of arms with the black battlements comes from the knights of the von Romrod. The Hessian Lion underlines its connection to Hesse.
