Ron Baensch

Ronald "Ron" Baensch ( born June 5, 1930 in Melbourne ) is an Australian former racing cyclist.

Cycling career

1960 Ron started Baensch at the Olympic Games in Rome in the sprint and finished fourth after he was inferior to the Italians Valentino Gasparella in the finals for the third place.

1961 occupied Baensch at the Track World Championships in Zurich third place in the sprint of the amateurs. In 1964 he became a professional. In the Track World Championships in the same year in Paris, he was vice-champion in the sprint of the pros in 1965 he finished third in 1966 and second again.

1965 took Ron Baensch at the prestigious Sprint Classic Grand Prix de Paris third. He also competed in 46 six-day races and finished three times in third place.

Doping

In the track world championships in 1967 Baensch was tested positive for ephedrine, disqualified and punished with a fine. He claimed to have taken a remedy for common cold.
