Ron Grahame
Ronald Ian Grahame ( born June 7, 1950 in Victoria, British Columbia ) is a retired Canadian professional ice hockey goalie who from 1973 to 1981 for the Boston Bruins, Los Angeles Kings Quebec Nordiques and the National Hockey League and the Houston Aeros in the World Hockey Association played. His son John is also a professional ice hockey goalkeeper.
Career
Ron Grahame was selected in 1972 by the New York Raiders in the General Player Draft the World Hockey Association. Without having played for the Raiders, he was transferred to the Houston Aeros. There he played during the 1973/74 season his first games in the WHA and won as the third goalkeeper with the Aeros for the first time Avco World Trophy. In the season 1974/75 he was then the number one in Houston and won with the team the championship again. Grahame added yet received awards as the best goalkeeper and most valuable player of the Play Offs. Two years later he was again named the best goalkeeper in the WHA. Only three goalkeepers in WHA managed more shutouts than Grahame.
But then he moved into the competitive league, the National Hockey League. Grahame signed in October 1977 signed a contract with the Boston Bruins and was immediately goalkeeper. At the beginning of the 1978/79 season he was transferred to the Los Angeles Kings. There, however, only the number was 2 During the 1980/81 season he was sold to the Quebec Nordiques, for which he still played a few games. He also played in the season still in the American Hockey League with the Binghamton Whalers. He then ended his career and has a total of three years at the coaching staff of the University of Denver.
