Ron Leavitt

Ronald "Ron" Leavitt ( born November 7, 1947 in Brooklyn, New York, † February 10, 2008 in Sherman Oaks (Los Angeles ), California ) was an American screenwriter and television producer.

Life

Leavitt was best known as co-creator of the U.S. television series Married with Children ( in the original: Married ... with Children ). The show with 259 episodes in eleven squadrons became the second longest sitcom on FOX after the Simpsons.

Born in Brooklyn, Leavitt began his TV career in the 1970s with screenplays for various sitcoms such as The Bad News Bears. He worked until the mid-1980s as a successful writer and has been awarded several prizes. End of the 80s he developed together with Michael G. Moye Married With Children, which established many of the customs and rules ran counter at her television debut in 1987, which led to public protests which resulted in some companies withdrew their commercials. He worked as an executive producer on the series and wrote almost 150 episodes of the screenplay. Among other things, the series was nominated seven times for an Emmy and a Golden Globe for the same frequency.

A further developed by Leavitt and successful in Germany series Unhappily Ever After ( in the original: Unhappily Ever After ), the relatively close to the successful concept of the " terribly nice family " oriented.

Leavitt died at the age of 60 from lung cancer. He left behind two children and his longtime girlfriend, model and actress Jessica Hahn.
