Ron Powell

Ron Powell ( born December 2, 19291992) was an English footballer who plays as a goalkeeper completed 1948-1964 more than 500 professional games.

Life

He started playing football in his hometown side Knighton Town. In November of 1948 he moved to Manchester City, where he made his league debut the following season. However, he played only 13 games in four years in the first team. His plays he made in the short time between the resignation of Frank Swift and the debut of Bert Trautmann. In 1952 he moved to FC Chesterfield, where he missed just two league games in the next twelve years, a total of 508 games completed.

He ended his active career in December 1964 after a car accident in which his teammate Doug Wragg and Peter Stringfellow were heavy and his teammate Ralph Hunt fatally injured.
