Ronal the Barbarian

Ronal the Barbarian is a published end of 2011 Danish 3D computer animated film. In allusion to Conan the Barbarian and other barbarians films, the film is a mixture of fantasy and comedy, and contains a tribute to the genre, inter alia, an appearance of Red Sonja actress Brigitte Nielsen as an Amazon queen.

Content

The barbarians are descendants Kron and as such war- addicted and uncouth. Only the young Ronal does not correspond to this stereotype. During a feast his village is attacked and all inhabitants are abducted to be presented to a demon of the ancient enemy Kron, as victims, thus contributing to its resurrection. Ronal decides to save his friends and take on the road companions who help him in this adventure, such as a bard who can not sing.

Production and publication

The film was produced by Einstein movie and Nordisk Film in 2011, was directed by Kresten Vestbjerg Andersen, Thorbjørn Christoffersen and Philip Einstein Lipski. Thorbjørn Christoffersen also wrote the screenplay. Producer was Trine Heidegaard, the music was composed by Nicklas Schmidt and for the cut by Risager was responsible. Kresten Vestbjerg Andersen was head of the animation. The production of Det Danske Film Institute and TV2 Danmark was supported.

On 29 September 2011, the film had its premiere in the Danish cinemas. This was followed by performances, including in Russia, Serbia, Poland and the Netherlands. MFA Film Distribution brought the film on December 22, 2011 in the German cinemas, film MovieBiz on 23 February 2012 in Switzerland. The Austrian premiere was on 13 January 2012. Ascot Elite Home Entertainment released the film in 2012 in Germany on DVD and Blu -Ray.

The film only reached a box office earnings of approximately $ 2 million at the box office at about $ 3 million production cost.
