Ronald Desruelles

Ronald Desruelles ( born February 14, 1955 in Antwerp ) is a former Belgian sprinter and long jumper.

In the long jump, he retired in 1976 at the Olympic Games in Montreal in 1978 and won silver at the Indoor Athletics Championships in Milan. At the European Athletics Championships in Prague, he failed in the same discipline in the qualification and was with the Belgian team eighth in the 4 x 100 - meter relay.

A fourth place in the long jump at the European Indoor Championships in Vienna in 1979 was followed by gold at the European Indoor Championships 1980 in Sindelfingen. Because doping him the European title, however, was revoked.

In 1982, he was seventh in the long jump at the European Indoor Championships in Milan and was eliminated at the European Championships in Athens in the first round.

In 1984 he won the bronze medal at the European Indoor Championships in Gothenburg on 60 m and different at the Olympic Games in Los Angeles from about 100 m in the flow. More than 60 m bronze medals he won in 1985 at the IAAF World Indoor Games in Paris and at the European Indoor Championships in Piraeus. In 1986, he won at the European Indoor Championships in Madrid on 60 m and reached at the European Championships in Stuttgart about 100 m the semi-finals.

In 1987 he was. At the European Indoor Championships in Liévin sixth of 200 m, at the IAAF World Indoor Championships in Indianapolis Fifth over 60 m At the World Athletics Championships in Rome, he came over 100m quarter-finals. He entered two more times at more than 60 m at the European Indoor Championships: 1988 in Budapest, he won silver in 1989 in The Hague, he finished fifth.

Seven times he was Belgian champion over 100 m (1978, 1979, 1982, 1984-1987), once over 200 m (1985) and ten times in the long jump ( 1975-1979, 1981-1984, 1986).

His brother Patrick Desruelles was successful as a pole vaulter.
